The Bulletin Advice for article and photographic submission How do I submit? Send your submission to the Editor. We prefer to receive submissions as Word documents, and images as originals (JPEG, GIF, PNG, etc.) because only original images will reproduce satisfactorily and do justice to your submission. Don't be held back from submitting articles by any concerns about matters of style (spelling, headings, sidebars, etc.). All submissions remain your intellectual property, but may be edited for length, grammar and house style. Queries about possible articles can be addressed to the Editor. What can I submit? If possible, have a look at previous editions of the Bulletin. You'll see that the Bulletin publishes a wide range of material. For the “Camino Life” section you could prepare a more substantive article regarding aspects such as historical, architectural or cultural perspectives possibly containing a bibliography. This could be up to around 1000-1200 words, with anything longer being serialised over a few editions. The second choice, “Member’s Pages”, could be a more personal account of your experiences. We are especially interested in your personal stories and experiences - either inspiring or perhaps less so - that will both inform and encourage future peregrinos! Consider the incredible people you met, your experience whether good or not so good and maybe what you learned about yourself during your Camino and if it lived up to your expectations or had a surprising effect on your thoughts and how you view your life. Guidance here is around 500 - 600 words, and please include your photographs! (see below). A few personal words describing you would also be of interest, especially if you haven't written for us previously. Poetry, photo essays, book reviews, and other types of submissions – even a single captioned photo - are welcome, however we prefer not to publish material that promotes particular products or services. Photographs Photographs are very welcome, and may be used in the article or in a later edition. Each photograph should have a title describing the content, be in JPEG or PNG format and sent separately so that we can embed later in the editing process - only original images will reproduce satisfactorily and do justice to your submission. It is important to realise that the person who took the photograph owns the copyright to that work which then cannot be used without permission from the owner. Any photographs submitted to The Confraternity of St James must be original works and owned by the person submitting. It will be assumed that any photographs submitted will be the property of the submitter, and the act of submission will automatically confer permission for CSJ to use as appropriate. When do I have to submit something for it to be published? Submissions for the Bulletin are accepted at any time during the year - hard deadlines for the Spring and Autumn issues are February 1st and August 1st - but preferably sooner to allow us time to appreciate your hard work, and include it in an appropriate place in our publication.
