  1. About us

Where we are

Where we work

Our Office

CSJ HQ! Our office, bookshop and library are based in Christ Church Southwark in Central London, an easy walk from Waterloo and Blackfriars rail stations.

Christ Church Southwark, home to the CSJ-UK office in London

Opening times

Our Open Days are held every Thursday from 11am - 3:30pm and on occasional Saturdays. This is when CSJ volunteers are available to answer pilgrims' questions, show you the bookshop, and process pilgrim passport and membership applications. Check out our Events Page for forthcoming dates.

There is sometimes a member of staff in the office on other days of the week, but it's best to book an appointment in advance to make sure!

Directions

We are inside Christ Church, equidistant between Blackfriars Bridge and Southwark tube station. When looking at the front of the church, head down the right hand (North) side of the building until you come to our door.

Our hostels

Refugio Gaucelmo, Rabanal del Camino is on the Camino Francés, between Astorga and Foncebadón. Head to our Gaucelmo page for all the details of our first albergue.

Albergue San Martín, Miraz on the Camino del Norte, between Baamonde and Sobrado dos Monxes. Head to our San Martín page for further information.

Our regions

We have many local branches throughout the UK - check out our Regional Groups page to find your nearest one!

Who we work with

International Associations

There are many Camino associations around the world - many countries have dozens - but here are the English-speaking ones:

  •  American Pilgrims on the Camino
  •  Canadian Company of Pilgrims
  •  Camino Society Ireland
  •  Confraternity of St James South Africa
  •  Australian Friends of the Camino
  •  Camino Downunder

Other Pilgrim Organisations

  • Confraternity of Pilgrims to Rome - our sister charity, who specialise in the Via Francigena pilgrim route from Canterbury, England to St Peter's Square, Vatican City.
  • The British Pilgrimage Trust - who have been doing amazing work reviving pilgrimage in the UK as a form of spiritual and eco-friendly tourism!

Other Institutions

  • Oxford Pilgrim Studies Network - who put together a conference in 2019 on Pilgrimage and the Senses, which the CSJ was involved with.
  • Young Star Mentoring - a charity who mentor and coach young people who have recently left care. Each year they take a group on the camino as a means of teaching them leadership, teamwork, self-worth and respect.
  • UK Cathedrals Trust - who in 2020 celebrate the year of pilgrimage!
