The CSJ has a small but flourishing Regional Group in Cumbria, which formed during lockdown, and has rapidly developed into a friendly and active group.  After an initial walk in 2020, the group had three walks together in 2021, continued its programme in 2022, 2023 and into 2024. The group holds regular zoom meetings throughout the year. Anyone with an interest in the Camino, including pilgrims past, present and future, are all very welcome to join us.

Latest updates/ upcoming events:

We now have a flourishing group of people who enjoy getting together, either for a social chat, lunch or walk. There were fourteen of us who met in Uldale in the centre of the county on July 25th to celebrate St Jame's Day with lunch and an opportunity to chat about all things Camino. We then had a walk from Crosby Ravensworth on August 24th when there were thirteen of us present. After some terrible weather early in the morning, it brightened up before we set off, and we then walked for well over three hours in glorious sunshine, with magnificent views of the Lakeland fells and the Pennines. We all enjoyed tea and cake afterwards in the village of Orton.

We are repeating that walk, with hopefully some more good weather, on Saturday November 2nd. Then we will be having our usual pre-Christmas get together in Uldale on December 11th, with perhaps a visit to the local church dedicated to St James.

We have events planned for next year already, with some of us joining the Durham group to walk the first stage of the Finchale Camino followed by a service in the cathedral in March.

Please contact group leader David Last if you have any interest in anything to do with the Camino - we will do our very best to make you feel welcome!
